Scottish Bishops close Scotland's only seminary

Briefing: more evidence of decline, although this particular seminary, Scotus College, will be no loss.  See Catholic Truth.

From CFNews: The Catholic Church announced yesterdar that it is to stop training priests in Scotland. A statement from the Scottish RC bishops' conference said seminary education would be concentrated at the Scots College Rome from the next academic year. It means the closure of Scotus College in Glasgow, where there are currently nine students. The bishops said the focus on Rome would mean benefiting from the 'spiritual, cultural and academic opportunities' at the heart of the Church.

The statement said: 'It is a matter of regret that the Catholic Church will no longer train priests in Scotland. Should the number of seminarians increase in future, the bishops would be delighted to reassess the situation.' [Edinburgh Evening News]

Pope Leo XIII's Prayer to St Michael

Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust down to Hell Satan, and all wicked spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen
