National Conference of Priests

Briefing: even The Tablet (13 Sept 08) has been wondering whether the NCP, the official body which is supposed to represent priests' views to the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales, has a future: apparently at its recent AGM there were only 35 priests and many dioceses were not represented, including the enormous ones of Westminster and Birmingham. Naturally, their response was that the NCP should become more radical and oppose Catholic teaching on a whole host of issues - wouldn't that be thrilling, boys! - incapable of understanding that it is this kind of attitude which has driven it into the ground. Face up to it, guys: being genuinely Catholic today is being radical; reiterating the tired nostrums of the liberal elite is not.

Fr Ray Blake has an amusing comment on it here and the above graphic.

Pope Leo XIII's Prayer to St Michael

Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust down to Hell Satan, and all wicked spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen
