Apostasy in the Royal Family

Action: prayers, please.

From CFNews: Your prayers, please, for Autumn Kelly, 29, who according to news reports has decided to apostatise in order that after her May 17th marriage to the Queen's eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, he will not have to surrender his place in succession to the Throne under the Act of Settlement of 1701. This sad news comes within a week of the forthcoming Feast of the Martyrs of England and Wales.

1) As part of the grammar patrol (and our purview includes spelling), it properly ought to be 'apostasy' (as different from the ending in '-cy'.

2) Do you possess (yes, that's truly four times the letter 's' contained into the same word) a window into the souls of men and women to tell what may really lie behind the girl's decision to be received into the Church of England?

3) It also seems rather quite a throwback to a sectarian and antiquated view of things to suggest as some still do (and not that you did say it specifically, though) that one ought to be praying for the conversion of England. Unless one may be praying for the conversion to Christianity period. And that people really should come to know God and pursuing righteousness.

4) Peace and Love.

1) Thanks, corrected.

2) Apostasy is a public act, so a window into the soul is not required for that. It is a matter of public scandal, partly because CFNews' inference as to her motive is overwhelmingly likely in the circumstances. If Miss Kelly wants to justify her public act, she needs to make a statement.

3) Naturally, we want England to converted to the true faith. As Catholics, we believe the true faith to be Catholic Christianity. If you don't believe that the religion you believe in is true, then you don't believe in your religion.

Pope Leo XIII's Prayer to St Michael

Holy Michael, Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust down to Hell Satan, and all wicked spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen
